Article summary

With reference to the “Eddington number”, E, which is the number of days in your life on which you have cycled at least E miles (October p21), I claim an Eddington number of 80. My one-day record was 122 miles, which, I believe, was also Sir Arthur's best when he cycled from Doncaster to Cambridge. I recently enjoyed a 70 mile ride just after my 70th birthday, but perhaps the greatest achievement is preserving intact a lifetime's statistics.
